How Much Alcohol Will You Need For Your Party?

The biggest question we receive from our customers is “how much alcohol will we need?” We’re here to help you plan your party and ease your stress, at least on the bar front.

Questions to ask yourself:

What do my guests primarily drink?
How much can my guests drink?

Knowing what your guests primarily drink is the biggest help. If you’re hosting a party with 70% beer drinkers, make sure to double up on what you thought you were going to need. Have guests that love sipping on cocktails? Ensure to pick up extra of the essential ingredients. If you don’t really drink, ask some of your guests what their drink of choice is to get an idea of preferences.

Tips & Tricks

Table Wine: Usually is Red & White Wine. If you’re having a sit down dinner, the standard is 1 – 2 bottles of each red and white bottle per 6 person table.

Varietal Wines at the Bar: 1 – 1.5 bottles of wine per wine drinker (some drink more, some drink less). We recommend having a few different varietals of each. While you might love a buttery Chardonnay, others love fruity Moscato! Guests love options.

Bubbly: Having a champagne toast? Standard bottles of bubbly will serve 4 glasses. Also remember! It doesn’t need to be expensive champagne – try substituting for Prosecco or Cava. If you offer bubbly as a drink option beyond that, you will want to go with 1 bottle per bubbly drinker.

Beer: 10 – 15 beers per beer drinker (again, some drink more, some drink less). Be sure to have both light and regular. A 30 L Keg is approximately 60 pints. We love supporting local craft breweries, supporting local also allows for lots of different beer options for your guests! For recommendations, please contact us!

Cocktails: More is more! People may not typically order cocktails, but if there are signature cocktails for the evening, you can guarantee we will be serving lots of them. We always want to make sure we have extras of all ingredients on hand. Even beer and wine drinkers sometimes like to start the evening off with a cocktail.

Shots: Everyone loves to toast the wedding party, birthday person, or guests of honour, be sure to have a shot that you want to drink, otherwise you may be stuck with vodka. One or two bottles of each drink you want to have as shooters. Some great options are Pink Whitney, Tequila Rose, Sambuca, and Flavoured Whiskey’s.

Coolers & Ciders: There are now some great premixed drinks to choose from. Coolers and Ciders are a great option to have on hand for your guests. And now, there are tons of local craft breweries brewing up these gluten free options as well!

Water: The quiet MVP. We need water for our designated drivers, under-agers, non-drinkers, and to help pace our guests. We always want water easy to access and love making it self-serve. We keep it right up beside the bar so when our guests are grabbing a beverage, they can also grab a glass of water.

Lastly, we have this great checklist to help you prep for your big day, and as always, if you’re stuck or unsure, feel free to reach out!
